Shadow over Olympics
A day before the opening ceremony for the Vancouver Olympics, during a training run for the world's fastest luger track (google it), a member of the Georgian luger team slid to his death at a bend late in his run. I heard this, and I was literally speechless. I was in complete disbelief until I checked it out for myself. The feeling surrounding the Olympics always seemed clean, and by that I mean a flawless gathering of countries to compete fairly for themselves and their countries' pride. It kind've brought me back down to earth. Imagine how that family feels, supporting that person throughout his athletic career, and having this happen to him a day before the Olympics. His teammates who trained alongside him, but now won't be able to see him compete, after hearing him talk about it, seeing work hard for it, it's ridiculous. A pair of US olympic athletes came to my school to speak for a while, and it was surprising how much time and effort they put into just being able to qualify for the Olympics, and though this goes for any untimely death, it really made me aware of the fact that I could die at any point in my life. I'm going to college*, going to Med school, etc etc, and I this whole plan I have laid out in front me might abruptly come to an end. It makes me wonder, should I just do what I really like doing (art) instead of pursuing something I'm sort of interested in that's definitely going to lead to a 'successful' career economically. This always leads to an extended period of confusion, frustration, and eventually a somber realization that I'm gonna end up sticking to the plan laid out in front of me.
ANYWAY.
* I got into Clarkson University and Manhattan College. =) A lot of pressure was taken off but another 12 colleges reply in about a month. Oh boy. Wish me luck .

Public School Kids a.k.a ANIMALS
Andre Bauer, the Lt. Governor of South Carolina, while talking about the public school system in South Carolina, mentioned that doling out free lunches in large supplies to the public school children was like feeding stray animals, and as his grandmother told him (that's for real, he said this), you never feed stray animals because they end up reproducing.
Feeding public school kids is bad because the more shitty Costco pizza's you give them, the higher their chances are of f***ing.
You crazy guy you.
In his defense , Mr. Bauer stated that he wasn't comparing them to stray animals
(Phew!)
but he WAS talking about a "dependency culture," where just as you feed animals and they become dependent on you, so will these kids.
(Shit.)
Olbermann's gotta do another worst person ever piece cuz this motrukka is out of his mind.

In the words of Mawt, I give you 'Barack McCain'

Obama plans an announcing a spending freeze that will most likely stay active for the rest of his term.
What. The.
Faced with 'political backlash,' Obama has given in to the crap being tossed around, and quite frankly, at a time when HE CAN DO WHATEVER HE WANTS. I mean not really whatever, but you don't have to stop all your spending, cut it down, spread it out over time, not just stop. The freeze is supposed to save 250 billion dollars.
Wonder what they're gonna do with those 250 billion in a few years if our economy ( very weak and feeble 'if') is still crap?
Some people might be saying that, well finally after spending so much on bailouts and crap, he needs to stop. But that's not all that this 'freeze' covers.
"The freeze would cover the agencies and programs for which Congress allocates specific budgets each year, including air traffic control, farm subsidies, education, nutrition and national parks." (NY Times)
Not a big deal right? Only EVERYTHING to do with our country. Except defense. They're going strong in defense, and Social Security, and Medicare/Medicaid, which happen to be the fastest growing federal programs, so good move there. I guess its not all bad.
We'll have to wait till Wed. and the State of the Union address.
Oh lawd.

DAS A HOOOGE CHIP MAN!
That is a chip from this bag of UTZ i bought for the Saints Vs Vikings game. Thas a huge chip man! The kit kat is there for comparison, I would've used a quarter, but I spent them on the Kit Kats in the picture. But anyway, that chip's bigger than a friggin Pringle. UTZ has officially climbed the respect ladder, Wise is gonna have to step up their game. Speaking of game (BOOM!) this Vikings/Saints is an AWESOME game. These teams are just goin back and forth, constantly keeping it tied with amazing plays. Tis awesome. Sucks about the Jets, they had a good run, but Peyton can't help but be Peyton man.P.S. I hate the new Lexus commercials with the Lexus- Batsignal thingy. Boo.

Darn Sweet Tooth!
Two sweet-toothed men are bitter after being mistakenly arrested
for possession of crack cocaine. "I spent five days in jail for
possession of coconut candy," said 33-year-old dad Cesar
Rodriguez, who works as a plumber's assistant.
THAT'S HILARIOUS.
I am obviously sympathetic with these innocent men, but seriously? Cops held them for 5 days. FIVE DAYS! How can you not differentiate between coconut candy and cocaine in 120 hours (you like that math). I do believe my 6 yr old. sister could tell the difference between them, though she'd be running the risk of being a coke addict before puberty. That would womp. Ah well.
I had three SAT subject tests today, think I did pretty well on em, and then I had a squash match and I BEASTED. Twas a good day. Bout to go see The Book of Eli. Hope its dope. We out.

Wallet!
I was going through some old stuff in closets when I came across a quaint box about half a foot wide and across. Opened it up, and lo and behold a wallet. I had had the intention to go out and buy one this weekend, as my other one got ripped directly in half ( caught in a car door, I pulled it real hard, stuff happens) but then I came across this bad boy. It's a regular old wallet, bifold, pretty thin leather pieces, no money, the usual for me. EXCEPT this one had my dad's name monogrammed into the front AND (whoa) the inside. Bad friggin ass.
After assuming it was mon padre's, I asked him about it, turns out he has a wallet, waddaya know, and I can have it. It's not my name, but it's an awesome piece of inheritance ( even though my parents are alive and well ). Just threw in some ID cards into there, and I wish I had more money to be quite honest. OH WELLZ. Anywho, I'm missing a Kid Cudi concert, so upset that some of my friends are probs rocking out to the Kid (thas right I called him the kid) and I am blogging and not doing homework. ( I use way too many parentheses).

Dem Darn Feel Goods

Damn them feel good movies.
I just watched Cinderella Man again, and it's ridiculous how much this movie can toy with my emotions. I found my self gritting my teeth, clenching my fists, holding back tears ( say something. I dare you.) and smirking along with Braddock. This movie is easily in my Top 10 ever, and fights for the best inspirational movie ( Screw Rudy. )
'D you know he helped make the Verrazano? RIDICULOUS.
Now I can't help but pass that bridge that I see much too often without thinking about that. And as I think about it, my hands drift off the steering wheel aaaaaannnnnddd boom goes the dynamite.
In other news, (hehe)
I bought some Japanese soda off a kid in the locker room today for a buck. After waiting three suspenseful hours to open it,( IT'S JAPANESE! Do you know the type of crazy shit they be doing?) it was an ultimate fail. It wasn't anticlimactic though, because it friggin exploded.
To open it, you push down a marble made of who-knows-what into the drink, and
it fizzes. And by fizzes I mean shoots off like a ton of Mentos in a tiny glass Coke bottle that you wish you could keep on a shelf or something. What?
Anyway, it was melon flavored, it tasted alright, nothing too special, and it was bright green which added to the fun, but no more of those Jap sodas for this guy. Atleast not in public. and probably not melon flavored.
P.S. Japs also have WATERMELON Coke.
Whoa. Gotta cop some of that.

Original Atari Boxing
vs
Fight Night for Xbox360.
WOW. Tis crazy how much progress we're making with graphics and other video game related details.
Seeing these pictures made me want to find my old Nintendo and Sega Genesis and set em up to play with for a while.
I hate them.
Wasted two hours finding, setting up and playing these bad boys, and they womp womp. Yea they did bring about an overwhelming sense of nostalgia, and then I went ahead, found some Play-Doh, a key component in anyone's childhood, some old class pictures from public school, a yearbook full of numbers, and THEN I called those numbers and ended up realizing that most people had forgotten me from sharing PE once a week in a class with 69 kids ( two classes of 35 and 34).
That was depressing. I apologize.

We had no domestic attacks under Bush. We’ve had one under Obama,”
Haitians were originally "under the heel of the French. You know, Napoleon the third, or whatever. And they got together and swore a pact to the devil,"
Everything this president sees is a political opportunity, including Haiti, and he will use it to burnish his credentials with minorities in this country and around the world, and to accuse Republicans of having no compassion,”
The quotes above were spoken by :
A. Respected governmental officials
B. Previous presidential candidates
C. Esteemed political commentators and radio hosts
D. All of the Above
E. Complete. F***ing. Morons.
Though D is technically correct, I hope anyone with an ounce of sensibility would favor E.
Starting off with the first quote, wasn't Guliani the one who always had the 9/11 reference up his sleeve ( not trying to belittle the attack in any way )? The excuses tossed around are that he wasn't thinking straight ( then i dont want his ass running for ANY office ), or that he left it out because he was WORRIED about the state of our country, and was full of worry that clouded his mind whilst speaking
Get out of my friggin state you dumbass.

above is the video where this man blatantly says that these people in Haiti essentially deserve what they are going through right now. That's just low. HUNDREDS of thousands are dying, and you blame them for a natural disaster. IF they had made a deal with the devil ( that if is the size of that new tower in Dubai. Shit is huge dawg) then wouldn't God, all knowing and intelligent, send his punishment down on the people who MADE the deal, not these people? And the focus should be more on the future of these people and what's to become of the already poorest country in our hemisphere ( that being the Western one) rather than the past that you're probably making up anyway. Grrrr.

Rush Limbaugh, the amazing man that he is, conveys little if any remorse for the people in Haiti, but instead calls out Obama ( WHO HASN"T DONE ANYTHING) for using this disaster to gain support.
More crapping on Rush Limbaugh later.
Text 'Haiti' to 9099 to donate to the Red Cross' Aid fund thing.

yea sorry you guys are gonna hafta wait a while...... college apps and shtuff due like now. or Jan.1 what a way to bring the New Year right? Celebrating the submission of 6 of my apps due that day and then crying cuz i have 4 more to go! BUT I WILL DO THE SOCIALISM VS CAPITALISM thing. i'm into it. And bee tee dubs (btw) i'm doing a term project for said Cuban history class (read the post below) and i'm interpreting a poem by Jose Marti ( the poem inspired the song Guantanamera, GO FIND IT do some work.) and NOT dancing to it but rather drawing a bunch of stuff to go along with it. Should be fun. I'll upload it
sometime in mid. Jan after i get it back from being graded.
But for now, this is a very cool lion i drew.
It's Christmas Eve, Merry Christmas (in a couple of hours) to those of you who celebrate.
Happy Belated Hanukkah
Very Belated Eid Mubarak.
It's sad that I don't know any other holidays or when they fall (Kwanzah, Diwali...meh)
but that's not what this post is about.
The blog's been dead because I'm here applying to colleges and determining whether or not I will move on to better things in my life or if Wal-Mart will become mon patron.
But recently, in a Cuban history class, we've brought up socialism a bunch of times, and had that whole socialism vs. capitalism , screw you you commi vs. shut up you greenback money loving pig thing, and it led to a feisty debate. Yes that is the correct spelling of feisty. But I'm gonna try my hardest to kind of layout what each is and hopefully allow myself to better understand each and maybe even decide which is better (Maybe).
SO this post will be over shortly, but very soon there will be another one outlining capitalism or socialism, I don't know which one yet, depends on if I watch Inglorious Bastards or Michael Moore's latest documentary tonight. But till then, peace. (and I've never had eggnog, what's it taste like?)

Been a while
So...
it's been quite a while since I last posted. My friend told me to write in this post that the reason for my absence was cancer. My friends and I proceeded to make him feel like crap. If anyone wants to leave threatening voicemails or send him anything harmful let me know so I can give you his number/address because it's illegal for me to post it online or something.
But cereally,
I went on a 40 day trip down the east coast with my Mosque people, 10 of us, all under 28 scept one of em, and it was friggin awesome.
We went down to North Carolina and stopped at a mosque whose parking lot was bigger than my block, and it was surrounded by trees. Creepy.
But the food was off da hook.
Mad good Caribbean food, all halal surprisingly (Muslim's Kosher).
But that was only a pit stop, so we were off to ATL the next day. We got there 7 hrs later, and it was ...disappointing. I dont know why but I had envisioned it as an almost Manhattinish kinda place with a bunch of 1985 Cadillacs with 45 inch rims and lots of music. But when we got to the downtown area, yes there were a couple of skyscrapers, some odd stores, but it was dead. Nobody on the streets. In the span of 10 blocks we counted 7 people. The mosque there was insanely beautiful though. Had a huge dome (typical?) but a bunch of fountains, and all with glazed marble, and the main hall was HUGE. The word huge is in capitals to emphasize the vastness of this hall. ( Pictures will hopefully be up next post). The mosque was the head mosque(?) of Atlanta (in Urdu it's called the murkuz) and they assigned us to go help out at and bring students closer to the mosque at different places. The first of which was Masjid Taqwa, in Doraville. I'll talk bout it later.

Obama's just like us! (and celtics)
This Tuesday, the prez and Joe B. headed out for a their weekly lunch. But not to some fancy joint with foie gras filled geese, but rather a local burger joint, Ray's Hell Burgers. Obama picked up a cheddah cheese burger and Joe went for the swiss cheeseburger. And a root beer at that. Making moves Joe, making moves. It's always nice to see and realize that the President is just like us in someways, thought most of us are not wonderfully gifted orators and are commander in chiefs of our countries. But nonetheless, it brought a smile to my face to see Joe Biden hold a couple of bills in his hand like I do at a burger joint, anxiously waiting to pay and smoothly collect the wierd amount of change that I'll probably drop, or to hear Barack Obama ask the place 'bout their fries (they didnt have any). If you REALLY wanna see Obama order a burger, then hit up the link thats with this post. You have to watch an ad for some stuff with kids in it, don't remember what.
Now.
Celtics
So they did win. Hah! beat em by nearly 20 points. Special parts of the game (in my opinion)
Eddie House, on fire and bravo on containing yourself after Rafer Alston slaps him on the back of the head. I used to like him. Ah well. Sore loser.
RONDO and that DUNK. WOW Where did that come from?! that was stunning. Shuttup all those people who said he couldn't get up on Orlando.
Ray Allen. Quiet around the 3 pt line, but he had some AMAZING in the paint plays. Recent Celtic fans must've been stunned. But he's a beast, so I was only mildly surprised.
Rashard Lewis. This guy is a great player, but also just a really nice dude. After every foul he apologized, gave pounds and fives, and didn't slap people AHEM **ALSTON** AHEM!
But all in all a good game. We hustled, they didn't. Simple as that. By the way, my internet shut down, and Firefox automatically saved my post. Wow.

First Pieces of Art!

Not necessarily a fan of vandalism, just the letters and stuff. I'm usually gonna take negatives of each drawing simply because they look cool. It says "soon" if it's illegible to some, and there IS a reason why I write SOON but that's for another time when I get more readers (probably never).
If anyone ever has any ideas for backgrounds for graffiti pieces, definitely let me know. Always looking for inspiration/pointers/advice. Please do comment(and follow!).
Peace!
P.S. If YOU are interested in graffiti, check out seenworld.com That man is amazing. My work is doodoo compared to him.
